The summer is almost upon us in Conwy! We’re thrilled to see such an influx of tourism already in the area and thought we would share some of our favourite walking spots in the local area that show off our wonderful surroundings. We’re lucky in North Wales to boast some of the most spectactuar walking routes for casual walkers and hikers alike. There’s nothing better than seeing the incredible landscapes of Conwy, and they’re everywhere you look. Whether you’re strolling through Conwy town centre marvelling at views of the medieval castle or hiking in Marl Woods to see the sweeping views of Llandudno and beyond, the feeling of escape and relaxation is everywhere.

Conwy Mountain

If you want incredible views without tackling a major mountain, Conwy Mountain should be at the top of your list. Rising above the historic town walls, the route rewards walkers with panoramic views across Conwy Estuary, the Great Orme, Anglesey, and the Carneddau mountains. The paths are well marked and can be accessed from the town centre or via Sychnant Pass.

Summer is arguably the best time to visit when the surrounding heathland comes alive with colour and wildlife. Bring your camera because the views are some of the finest in North Wales.

Head into Conwy town for brunch at Cantîn or enjoy coffee and homemade treats at L's Coffee & Bookshop.

The Great Orme Circular Walk

Just a few minutes from Conwy, the Great Orme offers one of the most iconic coastal walks in Wales. The circular route takes you around dramatic limestone cliffs with stunning sea views stretching from Anglesey to Snowdonia. The area is rich in wildlife, and it is not unusual to spot seabirds, wild goats, and even dolphins offshore on a clear day.

The route can be adapted to suit all abilities, making it ideal for casual walkers.

Stop for Lunch

Aber Falls

For a walk that combines mountain scenery with one of North Wales' most spectacular waterfalls, Aber Falls is hard to beat. The route follows a picturesque valley before reaching the impressive Rhaeadr Fawr waterfall, which plunges nearly 120 feet into the valley below. The circular route is family friendly and particularly beautiful during the summer months.

Pack a picnic and spend a few hours enjoying the scenery before heading back towards Conwy.

Conwy and Sychnant Pass Circular

This lesser-known route is a hidden gem. Beginning in Conwy, the walk climbs through Sychnant Pass before looping back via sections of the Wales Coast Path. Along the way you will enjoy peaceful countryside, sweeping sea views, and fascinating glimpses of the area's history.

It is a fantastic option for walkers who want to escape the crowds while still experiencing some of the region's most impressive scenery.

Conwy Quay and Town Walls Walk

Not every walk needs hiking boots. If you prefer a relaxed wander, take a stroll along Conwy Quay before exploring the medieval town walls. The combination of historic architecture, harbour views, and independent businesses makes this one of the most enjoyable short walks in North Wales.
